The MDX is equipped with Hands Free Link and uses Bluetooth technology to allow you to make and receive calls using the vehicle’s audio system and your mobile phone. All of this can be done without ever having to handle your phone, as long as it is somewhere in the vehicle. A major advantage of Hands Free Link is that Acura does not require you to purchase your phone through an Acura dealership. You can pick a phone of your choosing through any service provider or retailer, provided the phone is Bluetooth enabled and features the Hands-Free Profile. A list of compatible phones can be found at Acura.com/handsfreelink. The system can be paired with up to six different phones. However, only one phone can be used with the system at a time. Once paired, the system is very easy to operate using voice commands. The Hands Free Link talk and back buttons, located in the lower left section of the steering wheel, lets you operate the Hands Free Link System. Depending on the phone, many details, such as the incoming phone number or signal strength may appear in the multi-information display. The Hands Free Link internal phonebook can store up to 50 phone numbers, entered either manually or by voice recognition. Hands Free Link allows you to get more out of other MDX systems as well. For example, you can easily dial a restaurant found in the Navigation System’s points of interest database using the Hands Free Link System and, by configuring Hands Free Link with Acura Link, the MDX can use your mobile phone with a compatible data service plan to communicate with the Acura server.
